Dogechain chain
Overview
Dogechain is an Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible smart contract platform that functions as a layer-2 network for Dogecoin. It enables decentralized finance, non-fungible tokens, gaming and general smart contract capabilities for DOGE holders. Users transfer Dogecoin to the chain in a wrapped format and pay transaction fees with it, allowing DOGE to operate within decentralized applications that the Dogecoin proof-of-work blockchain cannot support. The network was launched using the Polygon Edge development framework and operates with a proof-of-stake validator set. The Dogecoin core project is not involved in its development.
Within The Counterparty graph, Dogechain connects to 3 tracked entities, most strongly to USD Coin, Tether USD, Frax.

Questions on the record
What is the purpose of Dogechain?
The network brings smart contract capabilities — including DeFi, NFTs and gaming — to the Dogecoin ecosystem, with bridged DOGE serving as the gas asset.
On what technology is Dogechain based?
It was launched using the Polygon Edge framework and functions as an EVM-compatible proof-of-stake blockchain.
Is Dogechain a component of the Dogecoin project?
No. It is an independent EVM chain that connects to Dogecoin via wrapped tokens and bridges, not an official Dogecoin initiative.
