Overview
StakeWise operates as a liquid staking protocol on Ethereum and Gnosis Chain, with governance conducted by the StakeWise DAO via the SWISE token. Its V3 iteration, unveiled in 2022, operates on a permissionless basis: depositors select a specific node operator's Vault for their stake and can mint osETH, an overcollateralised liquid staking token with slashing protection, against that stake. The architecture aimed to mitigate stake centralisation by enabling solo and independent operators to compete, while still providing depositors with a liquid receipt token usable in decentralised finance.
