Overview
On 30 December 2024, the second stage of the European Union's MiCA regulation came into force, six months following the entry into effect of the stablecoin provisions. From this date, the complete set of rules governing crypto-asset service providers — including exchanges, custodians, brokers and ancillary services — became mandatory throughout the EU, imposing requirements for licensing as well as ongoing obligations in conduct, governance and disclosure.
