Radiant Capital Exploit 2024 event
Overview
A cross-chain lending platform, Radiant Capital, suffered a theft of approximately $50 million on October 16, 2024. The exploit targeted its multisignature wallet, draining assets from its BNB Chain and Arbitrum markets. Attackers initiated the breach by sending malware via Telegram, hidden in a file presented as a feedback request. The malware displayed legitimate transaction details in the Gnosis Safe interface while transmitting harmful payloads to hardware wallets for signing, bypassing the protocol's 3-of-11 multisig security. Cybersecurity firm Mandiant linked the attack to the North Korea-associated AppleJeus campaign. Radiant collaborated with U.S. law enforcement but failed to recover the majority of the funds, later announcing it would cease operations.
