Overview
Peter Thiel's San Francisco venture firm Founders Fund, an early backer of Palantir and SpaceX, oversaw more than $12 billion in assets as of the latest data, up from above $11 billion after it collected over $5 billion in 2022 for its eighth flagship vehicle and a second growth fund. The firm has deepened its involvement in digital assets. It joined Ribbit Capital, Robinhood and Haun Ventures in the $68 million financing round for trading platform Lighter. Bloomberg reported in July 2025 that entities linked to Founders Fund and managed by Thiel owned a 9.1% stake in BitMine Immersion Technologies, a US-listed miner that shifted to an Ether treasury approach, after purchasing roughly 5 million shares. As of 30 September 2025, the venture firm held 928,389 shares of ETHZilla, an Ethereum treasury company, representing 5.6% of its equity. Founders Fund has also been cited as an investor in BitPay.
