Overview
Pyth Network has introduced Express Relay, a mainnet service launched in 2024 that channels MEV value back to DeFi protocols. The system replaces conventional priority gas auctions with protocol-controlled auctions for high-value transactions, especially liquidations. A shared network of searchers competes for execution rights; the Express Relay smart contract collects the highest bid and distributes a portion to the integrating protocol. Both protocols and searchers can join without permission, and the Pyth DAO retains ownership and governance over the system.
