Substrate protocol
Overview
Substrate is an open-source framework for blockchain development, written in Rust and built by Parity Technologies. It supplies runtime, consensus and networking modules, along with the FRAME pallet system, enabling developers to construct sovereign chains with custom execution logic, governance, staking and tokenomics. The framework underpins the Polkadot relay chain and its parachains. Parity subsequently consolidated the Substrate, Polkadot and Cumulus codebases into a unified repository designated the Polkadot SDK, where Substrate now functions as a constituent part.
