Overview
LINK is the native token of the Chainlink network, a decentralized oracle system that links smart contracts with external data, APIs, and payment rails. Built as an ERC-20 asset, LINK compensates node operators for fetching and validating off-chain information and may be deposited as collateral to encourage accurate oracle performance. The token carries no governance privileges; modifications to the protocol are managed via an independent off-chain governance mechanism.
