Overview

BNB Chain is a blockchain network associated with Binance that comprises three components: BNB Smart Chain, an EVM-compatible smart contract platform; opBNB, an optimistic layer-2 scaling solution; and BNB Greenfield, a decentralised storage system. BNB Smart Chain, originally launched as Binance Smart Chain on 1 September 2020, operates on a Proof-of-Staked-Authority consensus mechanism, which enables block times of approximately three seconds and low transaction costs. Its compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine allows Ethereum-based smart contracts and development tools to function on it with few alterations. The native token, BNB, is employed for transaction fees and staking.

Within The Counterparty graph, BNB Chain connects to 171 tracked entities, most strongly to Pendle, Safe, BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL).
