Overview

Polygon Labs developed Polygon zkEVM, a zero-knowledge rollup operating on Ethereum that produced cryptographic validity proofs for transaction batches, enabling Ethereum to confirm them without re-execution. Classified as a Type-2 zkEVM, it was largely equivalent to Ethereum except for minor opcode differences. The project's closure was announced by Polygon Labs in June 2025, providing one year's notice, and the network ceased operations on 1 July 2026. Users can retrieve their assets on Ethereum L1 via a non-custodial interface, where they must sign and submit claims themselves.

Within The Counterparty graph, Polygon zkEVM connects to 25 tracked entities, most strongly to Ethereum, Ethereum, USD Coin.
