BlackRock BUIDL, formally the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, is a tokenised money market fund that went live in 2024 on Ethereum. The fund allocates capital to cash, US Treasury securities and repurchase agreements, with the objective of preserving a net asset value of $1 per token. Market participants employ the instrument as on-chain collateral within decentralised finance protocols and as a yield-generating substitute for stablecoins.
